We prefer to host our client websites ourselves on our optimised servers, as we have complete control over the server environment. This will not effect existing arrangements you have for internet access or email. What is managed hosting?
In our managed hosting environment, Rackspace owns and is responsible for the data centre, network, devices, operating system and application infrastructure components, providing a stable operating environment for the applications. Cite manages the application (web site) and maintains full control over the applications infrastructure and business process. We carefully monitor the strain placed on server processors and services to ensure superior access times and reliability. This is an ideal environment for database-driven and business orientated websites.
A note of caution...
Be mindful of being offered too-good-to-be-true hosting charges. What invariably happens is your web site will be crammed on a server with hundreds (if not thousands) of other sites, all sharing the same processor and server resources . This is called shared hosting (which explains why it’s so cheap). If you are serious about your web site, don’t scrimp on the hosting!
