The benefits of doing a digital marketing internship at Cite

For the last three months our intern, Ravi, has been working on some exciting projects with us. Before leaving, he wrote this blog about his experience as our digital marketing intern:

After reading blogs written by other Cite interns, I thought I would write my own to give insight into why completing a marketing internship at Cite has proven so beneficial to me. During my time at Cite, I’ve been tasked with several activities and gained key skills that I can take with me to future jobs. If you are trying to find a marketing internship, I hope this blog helps paint a clearer picture of what to expect.

My very first task as an intern at Cite was to write a blog, and it wasn’t before long that I learned that there is more to it than meets the eye. I learned about the SEO value of blogs and how it isn’t simply enough to write blogs, you also need to ensure that they are optimised for search engines. One of my main duties has been writing blogs for clients on a variety of subjects, ranging from cloud computing to business travel tips and conveyor systems. This has developed my research and writing skills, as well as my knowledge on SEO.

Working on client’s social media accounts has been another of my key responsibilities. I have worked on Twitter using what Cite calls the “Twitter Universe” strategy to increase followers, and have also created Facebook updates for clients. Working extensively with social media has helped to enhance my creative skills and gain a better understanding of how to market on these platforms.

I was also tasked with researching keywords in order to write content for an upcoming website. After compiling a list of keywords, I used Google Keyword Planner to carry out my research and displayed my results on a spreadsheet. I then analysed my results and narrowed them down to a list of primary and secondary keywords which are going to be used for the new website. This task has improved my research skills and highlighted the importance of choosing the right keywords when writing website copy.

I will end on a more light-hearted note and share some words about my time at Cite. Immediately I noticed that Cite is a very close-knit team where the people are friendly and approachable. There is a great work environment here and it was exciting to be given tasks that carried real responsibility. I have thoroughly enjoyed my time here, no more so than at the Cite Christmas party where my team won in bowling! I am grateful for being given the opportunity to work at Cite, and I would recommend the Cite internship to anyone considering pursuing a career in marketing.
