Oxjam

 The Client:

The Oxjam music festival is a nationwide charity event supported by Oxfam. Over the last five years cities around the country have raised £1.5 million with one-day “Takeover” events, and Oxjam Leicester is the most successful.

Oxjam Leicester features over 100 bands in venues around the city and is visited by thousands of people each year. The Leicester event is the largest and most successful Oxjam festival in the country.

The Brief:

Because the festival takes place in multiple venues and involves so many bands, we were asked to create a mobile phone app that would serve as a hub of information for festival attendees as they moved around the event. With continuously changing acts and venues, the app also needed to be updated regularly.

The Solution:

In order to create a useful smartphone app that would also serve as a tool to market the festival, our mobile app developers included the following features:

  • Lineup featuring band information, gig times, locations, website details, and links to purchase tickets.
  • Venue info highlighting venue details and a list of artists playing at that location.
  • Map of the city pinpointing the location of the venues participating in the festival.
  • Additional festival information including, tickets, travel, and sponsors is also available.

By making this information available on a mobile device, attendees would be sure to find their favourite band. As the first smartphone app for any Oxjam festival, it received a positive response and a lot of press coverage.
