How we achieved 22,000 Likes for a single post

One of our clients – Big Bear Confectionery Ltd – task Cite with the on-going management of their XXX Mints brand Facebook channel. Our remit is to conceive and create engaging timeline content that encourages Likes, Shares and Comments, so as to expand brand awareness across this very popular social media platform.

Creative thinking and topical engagement

The Cite Social team conceived an idea that both drew inspiration from the FA Cup Final and also ensured our client’s product – mint sweets – was integral to its final realisation. What did we do? Simple – we built a replica of the famous FA Cup trophy out of XXX mints.

We encouraged viewers to Comment which team they thought would win the game – #XXXPalace or #XXXUnited – thereby tapping into the tribal passion of the football fan! Each Comment would represent a goal scored. Now our audience could play their own cup final.

Targeted Facebook advertising

The Cite Social team set up a Facebook advertising campaign, which carefully targeted an audience that we believed would WANT to see our Post – ie. supporter groups for each team. Audience selection – through Facebook Interests – is vital for encouraging engagement, since an uninterested audience is a waste of resources (and budget!).

The Results

  • Almost +80,000 unique newsfeed views (impressions)
  • Over +22,000 Post Likes
  • Post engagement rate of more than +29%
  • +2,686 new Page Likes
