Happy IPv6 Launch Day!
The Internet is experiencing a major growth spurt today with the launch of IPv6. IPv6 is the new system that will allow trillions more devices to be identified online by their own unique IP address, as opposed to the measly 4.3 billion that are available today. The growing demands for the Internet and the advancement of mobile technology to access it has led to the world running out of IP address space, so IPv6 is an important step to securing the Internet’s future.
Hundreds of organisations, including ISPs, hardware manufacturers and search engines have agreed to enable IPv6 today, and the switch shouldn’t be noticeable to Internet users. You can test your system to see if you have IPv6 or if there should be any problems accessing websites that support it.
