Latest NHS website launched for LMSG

LMSG website

We’re pleased to announce the launch of a new website for the Leicestershire Medicines Strategy Group (LMSG), a joint area prescribing committee for a number of regional NHS organisations. The LMSG plays a key role in the prescribing of specialist medicines and the managed entry of new drugs and related technologies.

We were approached to work on the project following a recommendation of the work we undertook for Leicester City Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG). LMSG needed a new, modern website to better serve its target audience: prescribers and pharmacists in primary and secondary care.

The site provides information about the status of various drugs under consideration for prescribing in the region. A ‘Traffic Light’ system uses predictive search and can be filtered by classification.

The website has greatly reduced administration for the LMSG by allowing consultants to now complete drug requests online. This is a fairly lengthy process, so we have added the ability for consultants to save their requests mid-submission. Admin staff can download the data for offline processing or publish the results in one click following approval.

Prior to designing the website, we took careful consideration of the user experience. The simple, user-focused design was inspired by award-winning sites such as police.gov and gov.uk, where user needs are the first priority. The site was designed ‘mobile first’, rendering beautifully across all devices, and was custom-build using WordPress.

“We appointed Cite on their track record in delivering online projects for the NHS. This experience was a huge benefit in the planning and delivery of our website – they were great to work with and offered really useful guidance throughout the process. We have no hesitation in recommending them to other NHS organisations.”  –Kath Carter, Clinical Commissioning Pharmacist (University Hospitals of Leicester)
