NHS Culture Change mobile app launched

NHS Culture Change app

Our latest mobile app for the NHS has been launched.  Commissioned by NHS Employers, the app has been created to enable effective culture change within the NHS.

The app is intended for NHS Organisational Development practitioners and will also be of interest to HR, service improvement, L&D professionals and anyone interested in improving organisational culture. The app complements the national ‘Do OD’ (Organisational Development) programme which aims to put OD theory into practice, helping people to connect, share, learn and grow.

Cite were invited to pitch ideas for the app which includes the OD Culture Change tool. This is a resource designed by the NHS OD Community, based on principles of Dialogic OD and Appreciative Inquiry. The culture change tool will help OD practitioners on their culture change journey by asking good questions which lead to conversations that in turn lead to action. The tool is based on the experiences of ten health organisations with academic validation from Southampton University Business School.

“Working with Cite to design and develop the app was a great experience. We learned a lot throughout the process that shaped our thinking and made us incredibly robust in our decision making. Cite were responsive, helpful and professional. As far as we know, this is the first ever OD intervention delivered via an app and we were helped enormously by the designers being able to translate complex theoretical concepts into a simple, accessible and vibrant tool. We’ve already had some very positive feedback from people who have started using the app. We hope it will help them to make the NHS even better for patients and staff.” – Paul Taylor & Karen Dumain, Do OD.

Following hot on the heels of our NHS Acronym Buster mobile app, this is the latest NHS project to use modern web technologies – Sencha Touch and PhoneGap – to deliver a slick and cost-effective mobile solution without the expense of native development. The app is available for iOS and Android devices.
