We were lucky enough to go to the official launch of the Highcross in Leicester, the new super shopping centre. It’s great to see Leicester leading the way in design, innovation and shopping.
The development of an area of Leicester which was beginning to become a bit run down is an inspiration. At a time when many projects (the London 2012 Olympics, the Curve Theatre) are over budget and behind schedule it’s good to see a business (Hammerson Plc) that achieves set goals and targets.
The marketing and promotion of the shopping centre has to be admired too. They’ve kept it simple – a solid website, some SEO and utilisation of local media and networks. Not only will they be able to entice those outside of the local area through their website, but gain the backing of Leicester residents through local networking.
