Saint-Gobain lead the way with consumer self-build website

Saint Gobain is one of the world’s largest building product manufacturers and distributors. Aimed at consumers building their dream home from scratch, the brand new self-build website from Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland offers them support every step of the way. Based on a two-phased approach, over a six-month period, our Cite development team worked in collaboration with Saint-Gobain’s internal IT department and branding agency to push the first phase live in July.  

The new, fully responsive website has been structured in a way to position four stages of self-build, helping consumers manage their project by tapping into a number of services such as finding reputable tradesmen in their local area and estimating potential costs. By offering this functionality, consumers can make decisions which should help to ease their self-build journey.

Cite and Saint-Gobain UK & Ireland opted for the site to be built in Drupal for a number of reasons. Firstly, because it meets the requirement for using an open-source PHP, a preferred solution for our client. Secondly, Drupal facilitates the build of customisable ‘components’ which enables Saint-Gobain to create unique and bespoke page layouts.

Cite is busy working behind the scenes on phase two of the website. This involves further additions to the project management tool that will allow users to organise their home renovation, invite suppliers and offer further detailed advice on how to run their self-build project.
